If someone were to ask me to choose between makeup and skincare, I would quickly say skincare with no problem. That’s just the way I am. But this doesn’t mean that I don’t use makeup at all. My favorite makeup products are brow products, eyeliner, and lipstick. And that’s why I am very excited about today’s post. Today I will be sharing my review of LipSense’s Dawn Rising.

Plums to Nudes
I received this product a month ago, and I was really excited and a bit hesitant to try it. When I started wearing lipstick, I gravitated towards a bold dark lip almost immediately. For me, a dark lip was my plain business suit. As a woman of color, I have big lips. At the time, I felt every other color just accentuated this fact.
I’ve wanted to try nude colors for awhile but I felt that would be a bigger hassle compared to others. Brands have gotten better with their shade ranges. But in my mind, I feared I would either look like I came from the 90’s or had finished eating a powdered donut. This opportunity came, and I thought, “Why not?” Amanda did a great job matching me up with a shade. She asked me if I wanted to go bold or neutral and what undertones I liked best. After that, she sent me a few pictures to choose from.
Instructions & Info
LipSense is waterproof and longlasting. I was sent the lip color, gloss, and remover. The instructions say to apply three layers, allowing each coat to dry in between layers before applying the lip gloss.
How It Wears
I wore it for the first time about three weeks ago when my sister and I went to go see Black Panther. Before the movie, we went to a local restaurant called, Black Sheep Burrito & Brews. While we were there, we shared an appetizer of different dips and I got a burrito for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that I only had to reapply my gloss after we finished our food.
What I Think
The lipstick wears very nicely, I find myself grabbing this color more than others. I will say that there is a tingling sensation when you first apply it to the lips. But I’ve read that it has something to do with the alcohol in the product. The sensation doesn’t last, it goes away immediately.
I haven’t had any issues with the product. The lip color can be stubborn to remove sometimes. So I apply the remover and let it sit for awhile before wiping away. I’ve found that this way works the best.
