Happy Monday everyone, we’re back at the beginning of the week. I’m honestly so shocked at how fast this year is going by. If you’ve read my Tags and Q&As| The Versatile Blogger Award you’ll know that I quite like napping. Yesterday, though my nap didn’t turn out right so instead of flopping around on my bed until I fell asleep, I got back up. I’d been holding onto a sample of the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Liquid Care Normal/Oily Skin and I recently got makeup samples from Everyday Minerals so I thought why not try everything right now.
First up was the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Liquid Care Normal/ Oily Skin. The formula contains aloe water and hyaluronic acid. It offers lightweight hydration and this formula of the product boasts that it gives a matte finish. The consistency isn’t like a lotion, it’s more like a gel. It spreads thin and doesn’t feel thick on the skin.
I applied this after washing my face. At first, I thought about moisturizing before applying this product but I’m glad I didn’t because this provided what I needed. My skin felt smooth and so soft after applying. I could see that my t-zone was much more matte than prior. But I wouldn’t say that my face was completely matte.
Next up was Everyday Minerals makeup. The company is vegan and vegetarian. All of their cosmetics are handcrafted. I admit that I’m still in the learning phase of makeup. But I have learned that the number one rule is “try before you buy.” I think this rule is ever so important too, being a person of color, makeup catering to a variety of color can be limited sometimes.
Everyday Minerals not only offers free samples, but they give you the option to do a total customization of the makeup samples you receive. In your sample kit, you get two bases, a primer, blush, and finishing dust. You can make your own kit here: Free Makeup Kit
I was sent the Golden Bronze 7W and Golden Almond 6W. Golden Bronze 7W is the left picture and Golden Almond 6W is the right. It’s definitely easier to tell by the pictures that Golden Almond matches my skin tone better. After hearing my mom say, “It’s too much!” (She says that every time I wear makeup btw, she is still getting used to it lol) She agreed with me that Golden Bronze gave my skin a gray cast.
The blush, Good Morning Luminous, is seriously gorgeous. Even my mother agreed with me that this blush is pretty. I was worried at first that it wasn’t going to show up on my skin but then I realized that I was being quite light handed in applying it. I used a little bit more pressure as I was dusting my brush in the powder and that’s all it needed. It’s not a bright in your face color, but that’s what I like about it.
And because I am such a goof, I didn’t take pictures of the other two products. I didn’t use the primer because I wasn’t sure how it would work with the L’Oreal liquid care. I did apply the Bronzed Finishing Dust. I’m not sure how they made it, it’s so finely milled I wasn’t sure I was applying it at first. I didn’t think anything was on the brush, to be honest.
I do like the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Liquid Care. While I had it on, it kept my face matte. Some companies like to throw out numbers just to say their product will last “x” amount of time. I will doubt this will last 72 hours because I don’t think anyone is going to wait 72 hours to wash their face. But please, don’t quote me on this, there’s probably someone out there who can prove me wrong.
My favorite makeup samples were the Golden Almond 6W base and the Good Morning Luminous blush. The base was a pretty good fit for my skin tone and the blush is just gorgeous. But on a regular day, you probably won’t find me wearing either. My everyday makeup is eyebrow gel and powder, eyeliner and if I’m feeling feisty I may throw a lipstick on. But I do enjoy playing with makeup any day.
